Course: Six washing machine loops (reverse directions each loop) plus a half-loop on the 15.4 mile Pemberton Trail. Gently rolling single track and jeep trail through the desert surrounded by beautiful mountain views. The trail combines many aspects of desert running including sandy washes, rocky trail, and thorny vegetation.

Schedule
Friday, October 22nd - McDowell Mountain Regional Park
3:00pm - Packet pickup (until 7pm). You will receive your goody bag, bib,
and ankle transponder.
5:00pm - Race Briefing (Optional). Short pre-race meeting by the race director and
medical volunteers.
5:30pm - Pasta dinner (until 7pm). One meal included for each registered
runner. Crews, pacers, and family are welcome to join by purchasing a $5
ticket at the door.

Saturday, October 23rd - McDowell Mountain Regional Park
3:30am - Shuttle bus begins transporting runners from front gate parking lot to Javelina Jeadquarters
4:30am - Packet pickup resumes & Kachina Rescue begins foot taping
6:00am - Race starts (clockwise direction). Make sure to bring a light!
11:00am - Sub sandwiches arrive at Javelina Jeadquarters
4:00pm - Pizza arrives at Javelina Jeadquarters
8:00pm - Burger & Hot Dog barbecue begins at Javelina Jeadquarters that
lasts through the night. Veggie burgers will be available,

Sunday, October 24th - McDowell Mountain Regional Park
6:00am - 24 hour cutoff for sub 24 hour buckles
9:30am - Six loop cutoff (Runners must finish their first six loops in 27 ½
hours)
12:00pm - 100 mile / 30 hour cutoff, race ends.

Time Limit: 30 Hours for 100 miles; Runners must complete the first 6 loops (mile 92.8) in 27 1/2 hours (runners must start their 7th and final loop by 9:30am). Runners must complete the first 5 loops (mile 77.4) in 23 1/2 hours (runners must start their 6th loop by 5:30am).

USATF Event Sanction: The Javelina Jundred is sanctioned by USA Track & Field. All participants must follow all USATF rules regarding sanctioned events. Trekking poles will not be allowed. Supplemental medical insurance coverage available for USATF members if you are injured at any sanctioned USATF event.

Aid Stations: Fully stocked, every 5 miles: Coyote Camp, Jackass Junction, and Javelina Jeadquarters (Trailhead). We will be providing SUCCEED! products for electrolyte replacement (ULTRA & S! Caps).

Drop Bags: Are allowed at Javelina Jeadquarters and Jackass Junction. Please leave your drop bag for Jackass Junction in the designated area near the start on race morning so we may transport them to the aid station. Drop bags from Jackass Junction will be returned to the start/finish area by 10AM on Sunday morning. There will be a designated drop bag area at Javelina Jeadquarters near the turnaround this year. No drop bags at Coyote Camp due to its remote location.

Pacers: Allowed after 4 loops or at sunset. Multiple pacers may be used, but only one at a time. Pacers must be on foot (no bikes) and may use the food and nutrition at aid stations for support.

Crews: Allowed ONLY at Javelina Jeadquarters.

Awards: Special awards to top 3 male and female winners. Buckles to all 100 mile finishers. There will also be Best Costume (Male & Female), Geri K (Most Memorable), Best Ass, First Virgin, Oldest Finisher, Youngest Finisher, Best Team Finish, and Dead Last awards. Runners who complete at least 100 km (4 loops), but drop from the 100 mile race will receive a "Wimp-Out" 100 km award.

Proceeds: An annual race donation is made to the McDowell Mountain Park Trail Fund, supporting park improvements for all users. The race has donated over $57,000 in the past seven years.

Registration: Registration will open January 31st, 2010. You may register online through Ultrasignup.com (note that additional processing fees apply) or through mail by check or money order. Any applications received after the race is full will be added to a waiting list in the order in which they were postmarked.

Entry Fee:$200 by May 31st; $225 by August 31st; $250 after that until race day if spots are available. Note: Each race entrant will receive one parking pass for the weekend that is included in your entry fee ($18 value). Additional vehicles for crews or other spectators will be asked to pay a park entry fee of $6/day per vehicle in the park. This fee goes to Maricopa County for general park operations.

Refund Policy:A 50% refund will be available until August 31st. No refunds after August 31st. No rollovers or transfers to next year.

Weather: Average high temperature is 83 degrees F with an average low of 50 degrees F. Record highs are in the mid 90’s and record lows are in the mid 30’s. Be aware that the entire course is exposed, meaning there is no shade. Be prepared for hot, sunny weather during the day and cold nights as you dip in and out of desert washes and canyons.

Parking: Parking on race morning has been moved to the Four Peaks staging area just inside the park entrance (2.8 miles from the race start at Javelina Jeadquarters). Shuttle buses and vans will begin transporting runners and their drop bags from the new parking area to Javelina Jeadquarters at 3:30am until the start of the race. Please arrive early to account for a few extra minutes of shuttle time! Shuttle vans will be running back and forth through the duration of the weekend. Parking will be available at Javelina Jeadquarters for those runners camping on Friday night. The main parking lot at Javelina Jeadquarters will open back up after the start of the race for pacers, crews, and volunteers to come and go as space is available.



Camping: Tent sites are available at the Pemberton Trailhead (Javelina Jeadquarters) next to the start/finish line. There is a shower and bathroom facility located at the Jeadquarters. If you prefer a full campsite with RV hookups, they are available elsewhere in the park for $20/night. McDowell Mountain Park does not take reservations, but offers these sites on a first come, first serve basis at the park entrance. There will be plenty of camping spots available. We ask that RV's use camp spots elsewhere in the park.

Pre-Race Dinner: A pasta dinner will be served on Friday evening from 5:30-7:00pm at Javelina Jeadquarters within McDowell Mountain Park. All participants will receive one meal ticket for this dinner. Additional tickets for friends, family, crews and pacers will be available for purchase at the dinner for $5/each.

Park Rules: We are guests at McDowell Mountain Park and must follow all rules. Any violation of these rules will be grounds for disqualification from the race.
- All pets must be kept on a leash
- Littering is strictly prohibited (this includes organic waste i.e. banana peels)
- Any type of glass bottle or container is not allowed
- Runners must stay on designated trail at all times
- Runners must be respectful of all volunteers and park staff

Getting Here: The closest airport is Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) which is a 55 minute drive from the park. Coming from Phoenix, take the Loop 202 East to Country Club Drive/ Hwy 87. Turn left and drive north for 12 miles and turn left on Shea Blvd. Travel .6 miles and turn right on Saguaro Blvd. Take this 4 miles until it ends at Fountain Hills Blvd and turn right. Continue on Fountain Hills Blvd as it turns into McDowell Mountain Drive and look for signs to turn left into McDowell Mountain Park.
